ABOUT ME
Hello! I'm Antoinette Burch, also known as Toni. I was born in New York but raised in North Carolina since I was 11 years old. I enjoy vacationing at the beach or traveling, watching comedy movies, and/or attending live stand-up comedy shows. I was honored with summa cum laude with my undergraduate degree in social work from Shaw University. I completed a master’s degree in social work from North Carolina State University. I am provisionally licensed in NC as a Licensed Social Worker (LCSWA), and Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCASA). I’m a wife of a law enforcement officer, mother of two (daughter and son), aunt (several nieces and nephews), niece (3 aunts), and a cousin to a host of relatives.
EXPERTISE
I’ve been working in the behavioral health field since 2017 and have worked in all levels of care available from outpatient to psychiatric inpatient units. I have held positions as case manager, clinical director, and primary therapist working with children and adults. The various populations I’ve worked with include individuals in the criminal justice systems, individuals with substance use disorders, chronically mentally ill individuals, individuals in crisis, and those with co-occurring disorders. My depth of experience in the field allows me to navigate complex clients and family systems to make informed and collaborative decisions with a family or individual.
COUNSELING APPROACHES
I use multiple theoretical frameworks including Motivational Interviewing, CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), Harm Reduction, and DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy). My approach is Strength-based, Person-centered and collaborative to support achieving your specific goal. During each session you can expect to receive from me; genuineness, effective listening, collaborative approach, judgment free, and comfort. I believe effective collaboration leads to successful outcomes.
