ABOUT ME
Hello! My name is Ellen Kuehl. I am a NC native, originally from Greenville, NC. I moved to Raleigh in 2016 and currently reside in the Holly Springs/Fuquay Varina area. I earned my Masters degree from East Carolina University in Clinical Social Work (MSW), and furthermore, a certificate in Substance Abuse Counseling. I have been practicing as a therapist since 2015. I have a LCSW and LCAS license from the State of North Carolina.
EXPERTISE
I have acquired beneficial skills working in diverse settings including, child day treatment, foster care, community mental health, and inpatient hospitalization. My experiences have allowed me to work with a diverse range of clients on an individual and group level.
I see clients that range in age from 10 to 65. I am skilled and experienced in working with women, men, children, adolescents, and LGBTQ+ population on a wide variety of concerns including depression, anxiety, self-image and self esteem, stress management, life transitions, ADHD, and trauma. I have special interests and training in polyvagal theory (how the autonomic nervous system works), trauma and anxiety. I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) and working on my full certification.
COUNSELING APPROACHES
I utilize several different approaches depending on the client’s needs including, biopsychosocial which focuses on the importance of a holistic approach and client centered approach is critical to my practice as each individual is unique. I further utilize cognitive, cognitive behavioral and polyvagal theoretical approaches and implement modalities including, CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), Solution Focused Therapy, Art Therapy and most recently trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) to treat Big T and little t trauma.

Please note, clients are responsible for calling their insurance to verify insurance benefits for Outpatient Therapy (in-network or out-of-network benefits if Wake Counseling provider is not in-network with your insurance plan). Here are commonly accepted plans by this provider:

Out-of-Network Insurance: We can bill out-of-network as a courtesy, or we can provide a “Super Bill” invoice clients can submit to their insurance provider to claim out-of-network benefits. Client is responsible for verifying out-of-network benefits with their insurance plan.
Private/Self-pay, fee schedule is as following:
Initial Assessment/Consultation - $170
Individual 40-45-minute session - $105
Individual 46–60-minute session - $140
Family 45-minute session - $120
Family 46–60-minute session- $160
There will be $105 no-show/late cancellation fee for missed appointment unless cancel/reschedule appointment with a 24-hour notice in advance.
