ABOUT ME
Hi! My name is Katie Sorrell (pronouns: she/her/hers). I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate (LCSWA). I was born and raised in North Carolina. I am an avid coffee drinker and sushi lover. In my free time, I enjoy being outdoors, traveling with my family and watching my children participate in their extracurricular activities.
EXPERTISE
I earned a Master of Social Work from Barry University and a Bachelor of Social Work from Western Carolina University. I have experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families. I have worked with individuals and families dealing with anxiety, stress, grief, life transitions and health/medical issues. I have gained knowledge and experience working in a variety of settings including inpatient hospitalization, nonprofit work in foster/non-relative care and with a community alternative program for children who are medically fragile/complex.
COUNSELING APPROACHES
My approach to therapy is from a holistic perspective, addressing the whole person, including their physical, mental, and emotional health. It is important to me to take the time to develop a therapeutic relationship with each client. I believe in creating a warm, safe, nonjudgmental space where clients can express their emotions and share their life experiences. My priority is to meet each client where they are and collaborate with them as they work towards achieving their goals. I use evidence-based approaches such as Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Family Systems Therapy, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT).
I am available for in-person or telehealth sessions.
