ABOUT ME
Hello! I am Ramatu (TuTu) Samura, and I was born in Sierra Leone, West Africa. I have called NC my home since moving to the United States in the early 2000s. I completed my undergraduate studies in Psychology at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. In 2017, I graduated with a Master of Arts in Public Health and worked in clinical trials research for over five years, helping individuals with cancer, blood disorders, and other chronic health issues. I received my second Master of Science from East Carolina University's Department of Addictions and Rehabilitation Studies (DARS) program. I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate in North Carolina (LCMHCA) and a National Board-Certified Counselor (NCC).
I enjoy working out, attending concerts, and discovering new locations with my friends in my spare time. I also love spending quality time with my family and traveling yearly to see some of my family in Africa.
I'm so pleased you found Wake Counseling & Mediation, and I look forward to meeting you.
EXPERTISE
I have experience working with diverse individuals from different walks of life. I have worked with teens and adults dealing with anxiety, depression, self-harm, suicidal ideation, grief, PTSD/trauma symptoms, chronic health issues, stress, substance abuse, and life transitions. My experience also includes working at an outpatient substance abuse treatment center for adults with illicit substance use disorder and mental health problems.
COUNSELING APPROACHES
I use a holistic approach to counseling, including evidence-based practices and instruments like behavior therapy, motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and solution-focused brief therapy. My goal is to provide my clients with a secure, judgment-free space so they may feel comfortable taking risks that will help them achieve their goals.
I'm delighted to work with you and am available for in-person or telehealth appointments.

Our past interactions with dysfunctional families sometimes can affect our behavior.
