ABOUT ME
Hello, I am Sam Bryant. I have a graduate degree in Social Work from University of North Carolina Chapel Hill and an undergraduate degree in Social Work from University of North Carolina Greensboro with concentrations in human development across the lifespan and early childhood development. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate in NC and am becoming certified as a Generative Coach in the practice of generative trance. I live in Chapel Hill, NC with my wife, a data analyst with her hands in many different activities, and we are soon to have a new puppy join us. I play guitar, violin, mandolin, and ukulele, but also love to live an active life. I love ice hockey, tennis, running, backpacking, and am an avid amateur disc golfer.
EXPERTISE
I have clinical experience working with children, adolescents, adults, multicultural, and LGBTQIA+ population struggling with anxiety, depression, PTSD, behavioral issues, academic/school issues, ADHD, sexual/gender identity issues, and life transitions. I have been working with children and families for the last 5 years coaching individuals, parents, and kids using a trauma-informed approach to address these issues.
COUNSELING APPROACHES
I prefer to use Strength-based theories, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, Generative Trance, and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) in my work with clients. Generative Trance is not to be confused with hypnosis, and is a practice that helps individuals return to their center through somatic expression and collaborative work between the conscious and unconscious mind.
I may use a combination of these approaches to construct the most effective interventions, given each client’s unique needs and preferences. My approach is based on creating a positive relationship that is built on trust so that each person feels safe and respected as they embark on their mental health journey.

Our past interactions with dysfunctional families sometimes can affect our behavior.
